Recap
The Wanderers opened the scoring midway through the first quarter when QB Jon Hachey found Doug McPhee in the end zone for a 20 yard touchdown pass.
Saint John would stretch their lead in the second quarter. First Hachey would score on a 12 yard run. Later he found Jon Haines on a short swing pass that would go for a 35 yard touchdown. Jeff Gillies added the convert, giving the Wanderers a 19-0 halftime lead.
In the third Hachey found Gillies in the end zone for a 15 yard TD strike. Gillies booted the convert and the lead was stretched to 26-0.
Finally, in the fourth the Marshals got on the board when Alex Best went in from the one yard line to narrow the score to 26-6. The Wanderers answered back with a drive of their own that lead to another Hachey TD pass, a 25 yarder to Doug McPhee. Gillies’ convert boosted the lead to 33-6.
In the closing minutes Moncton would score once more. This time Shawn Wareham’s one yard plunge did the job. The convert was good, making the final score 33-13.
As New Brunswick champions the Wanderers won the Percy Burchill Trophy.
