In the game that would decide first place, Capital Area opened the scoring in the first quarter on Jeff Taylor’s circus catch of Allison Brooks’ 20 yard pass. Danny Gibson booted the 2 point conversion.
The Gladiators added to their lead in the second quarter when Brooks found Andrew Fisher with a two yard touchdown strike. Gibson again kicked a two pint conversion to give the Gladiators a 16-0 halftime lead.
Saint John was finally able to mount a drive late in the fourth quarter, capping it with Shawn MacAulay’s 20 yard touchdown pass to Reese Roche. Ron Manning added the 2 point conversion.
The Gladiator offence was able to put together a string of first downs and run out the clock.
