Recap
The Wanderers opened the scoring in the first quarter capping a 40 yard drive with Chris Johnson’s four yard touchdown run. Doug McPhee added the convert.
The Gladiators answered immediately when Jon Roscoe returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for the major. Danny Gibson added the convert to knot the score at 7-7.
After the kickoff Saint John drove 50 yards only to be stopped by a Gladiators goal line stand. Neither team was able to score in the second quarter.
Capital Area took the second half kickoff and put together a 60 yard drive that ended with a one yard plunge by Allison Brooks for the touchdown. Danny Gibson booted the convert to put the Gladiators up 14-7 going into the fourth quarter.
Capital Area had another long drive in the fourth quarter that stalled on the Wanderers 10 yard line. They would settle for a Danny Gibson field goal and a 17-7 lead with three minutes to play.
The Wanderers answered back with a drive of their own and a 30 yard touchdown pass from Richard Naves to Doug McPhee. A two point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Capital Area took the kickoff and put together a couple of first downs to run out the clock and claim the Burchill Trophy
