Recap
The Wanderers opened the scoring midway through the first quarter when quarterback Jon Hachey hit Tyrell Sparks with a 25 yard touchdown pass. Saint John added to their lead early in the second quarter. This time Hachey found Jeff Gillies in behind the Gladiator secondary and the receiver outran the defenders on a 105 yard pass and run play for a touchdown. Gillies also converted both touchdowns.
The Gladiators mounted a long scoring drive of their own that culminated in Lee Hoyt’s 1 yard touchdown plunge. Ted Turnbull added the convert. Capital Area mounted another drive in the dying seconds of the half. After a touchdown was called back by a penalty the Gladiators settled for Ted Turnbull’s 37 yard field goal.
The third quarter belonged to Wanderers’ running back Jon Haines. He rambled for touchdown runs of 40 and 50 yards. Gillies converted both TD’s.
